[Track & Field] Scarlet Hawks Track & Field Begin Outdoor CampaignPublished by
Chicago, IL - The Illinois Tech Scarlet Hawks started their outdoor campaign on Saturday, March 29 on a cold and windy day at North Park University Invitational. St. Norbert, Trinity Christian, MSOE, Lakeland, Cardinal Stritch, Judson, Edgewood, North Park, Valparaiso and Triton all opened their season with this meet as well. "It was good to open the season early. We treated this as a rust buster and from now on we will be looking at setting personal bests and school records. The weather is a big factor, especially this early in the season but hopefully we will get some better conditions for the next meets" said Assistant Coach Raul Botezan. Joseph Yassin and Jack Kosar had great showings in the Javelin Throw. Although competing for their first time in this event, they both recorded throws of over 40 meters, 41.47 for Yassin and 40.97 for Kosar. Andrew Montague had a great double over the weekend. He finished 4th in the 800m and 3rd in the 5,000m. The final event brought a school record for the Scaret Hawks. Phillip Cano, Mitch Martyr, Tyler Haag and Ethan Montague teamed up in the 4 x 400m and dipped under the previous school record. The performance was good enough for a 4th place finish. Illinois Tech Track & Field will return to action next week at the "Ted Haydon Invitational" hosted by The University of Chicago. Read the full article at: www.illinoistechathletics.com
